About This Training
QPR stands for question, persuade and refer – the three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
The QPR Institute’s mission is to save lives and reduce suicidal behaviors by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training. It is believed that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know. QPR can be learned in this Gatekeeper course in as little as one hour (or two hours maximum).
Participants who complete the training receive a one-year QPR Gatekeeper certification.

Training Benefits and Learning Outcomes
What Participants Learn
Participants will build an understanding of suicide as a public health issue, including the role stigma plays in prevention and response. The training helps participants recognize key warning signs that someone may be at risk and apply the QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) steps to connect individuals to appropriate help and resources.
A schedule of in-person sessions is offered throughout the year and is open to employers statewide. Naloxone and Opioid Overdose Response training is included in the QPR Gatekeeper training at no additional cost.
