Mental Health Support Skills Refresher Training FAQ

This training is designed for employees at all levels, including supervisors, managers, human resources and benefits staff, and wellness or safety professionals who want to maintain and strengthen their ability to support mental health in the workplace.

Yes. Participants previously must have completed Mental Health First Aid. It is recommended that at least six months to one year has passed since completing MHFA to ensure the refresher is most effective.

No. This course does not provide a certification. It is intended to refresh skills, reinforce best practices and build confidence rather than introduce new certification content.

Participants will refresh and strengthen their ability to:

  • Recognize signs of emerging or worsening mental health challenges.
  • Apply MHFA support techniques with confidence.
  • Practice supportive conversations using realistic workplace scenarios.
  • Increase comfort and confidence when offering mental health support.

The training is 2.5 to 3 hours in length and is delivered as a live, interactive session.

Here is what the training experience looks like from start to finish:

    1. Register for a scheduled training or request an on-site session
      Participants may register for an upcoming in-person refresher session or organizations may request an on-site training for a group of employees.

    2. Attend the in-person instructor-led session
      This interactive, scenario-based training focuses on applying skills in realistic workplace situations.
    3. Receive follow-up resources
      After completing and passing an in-person session, participants receive digital tools and guides to use in individual workplaces.
