Open trainings are available to employers across Indiana and are ideal when you would like to train a small number of employees (typically one to three individuals). These sessions are hosted by WCI and include participants from multiple organizations.

On-site training is best for organizations that want to train a larger group together. A minimum of 15–20 participants is required, and in-person sessions can accommodate up to 30 participants.

The pre-work is completed online through the MHFA learning portal and covers foundational concepts prior to the live training. Instructions are provided upon registration and must be completed before attending the in-person session.

Participants learn how to identify signs of mental health and substance use challenges, how to approach and support someone who may be struggling and how to connect individuals to professional and community resources using the proven MHFA action plan.

MHFA is designed for employees at all levels and is especially valuable for HR professionals, supervisors, managers, wellness and safety teams, and any employee wanting to strengthen supportive communication skills.

Yes, participants receive a nationally recognized MHFA certification valid for three years.

Here is what the training experience looks like from start to finish:

  1. Register for a scheduled training or request an on-site session
Participants may register for an upcoming in-person refresher session or organizations may request an on-site training for a group of employees.
